Safety Policy
Last updated 2026-10-01
This is MakeItLit!’s Safety Policy: what isn’t allowed, what we check and what we don’t, what happens after a report, how to ask for a review, and where to get help. It applies to everyone on MakeItLit!. [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] runs MakeItLit!. Questions: support@makeitlit.app.
What isn’t allowed
Everything our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service rule out. In short, never:
- harass, threaten, stalk or bully anyone, in the app or after meeting;
- pressure anyone for sex, or have sexual contact without consent;
- share an intimate image of anyone without their consent, or threaten to (sextortion);
- post or send anything sexual involving a minor, or be on the app under 18;
- encourage violence or self-harm;
- ask for money, gift cards or crypto, pitch investments, or sell or solicit anything, sex work included;
- use someone else’s photos, a false age or a false identity, or have more than one account;
- use bots, scripts or other automation;
- come back after a ban.
Misconduct that threatens anyone’s safety, online or in person, can get an account banned straight away, without a warning first.
Criminal background checks
MAKEITLIT! DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENINGS OR CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ITS MEMBERS.
So no criminal conviction is checked for. But our Terms don’t allow anyone who is required to register as a sex offender, anywhere, to use the app: when we find out someone is, we ban them.
Age and identity checks
- Age: everyone gives their birth date when they sign up and must be 18 or older. We don’t check ID. When we find an account that belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.
- Identity: we don’t verify who anyone is. Selfie verification (the Solid badge) is optional: someone takes a few live selfies doing moves we ask for, and we check they match the person in their own photos. It doesn’t confirm their name or age, or say anything about their character.
- Mobile numbers: some free features need a verified mobile number, one per account. That stops duplicate accounts; it isn’t an identity check either.
Reports, hiding and bans
- Anyone can report someone: from their profile, a message, a photo or a feed video. Reports are private: the person reported is never told who reported them.
- Reports go to a queue that our moderators work through, most urgent first: anything involving a minor or sexual content, then threats and harassment, then scams, then fake or misleading profiles, then everything else.
- When 3 different people who had really come across someone report them, that person is hidden from everyone until a moderator looks. Only reports from accounts at least 3 days old, each on a different phone, count, so a few fake accounts can’t hide anyone.
- Automated checks also screen photos, videos and some messages, and flag accounts that look automated. Those flags go to the same queue.
- A moderator decides: the reports were wrong (the account stays, and is shown again), hide the account (it can still sign in, but nobody sees it), or ban it (it’s signed out everywhere, can’t sign in again and is hidden from everyone).
- Anything involving a minor, sexual contact without consent, sharing intimate images without consent, threats of violence, and fraud can get an account banned the first time.
- Banned accounts can’t simply join again: we keep their sign-in switched off, and codes made from their phones and mobile number, for 3 years.
- Content that breaks the rules is removed. Apparent child sexual abuse material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as US law requires. A feed video that sells is held for review; after 3, posting in the feed stops.
Asking for a review
If we hide or ban your account, the app tells you why: the kinds of reports behind it, never who made them, or the moderator’s notes.
You can ask for a review once per decision: in the app, or from the sign-in screen if your account is banned (you’ll need your username and email). A different person from the one who decided looks at it, and you see the answer in the app. You can also write to support@makeitlit.app.
Telling people who were in touch
If we ban an account for fraud or for using a false identity, we tell everyone it sent a message to, within 24 hours: in the app, by notification and by email. The alert gives the account’s name, username and main photo, and when it last messaged them, and reminds them never to send money. It says nothing else about the account.
We don’t tell other members about other bans, hides or reports.
How to report, and false reports
Report someone from their profile (Report or block), by long-pressing one of their messages, or from a photo or feed video. Pick the reason that fits best and say what happened: the more you tell us, the faster we can act.
In danger right now? Call 911 (or your local emergency number) first, then report them here.
Only report real problems. Knowingly false or malicious reports break our rules and can cost you your account. A report a moderator dismissed can’t be made again by the same person for 30 days, unless something new happened.
Sexual contact without consent
Sexual contact with anyone without their consent violates this policy and is illegal. It can lead to criminal charges and to civil liability, and it gets an account banned from MakeItLit!.
If it happened to you, it’s not your fault. Please report it to us and to the police: reporting can stop them from hurting someone else, and we may need your report to act on their account.

What we do to keep people safe
- Automated checks on profile photos, videos, chat photos and some messages, for nudity, violence, hate and abuse. A message that reads as threatening asks the sender “are you sure?”, and is filed for review if they send it anyway.
- Spotting bots and fake accounts, and stopping banned people from coming back.
- Optional selfie verification (the Solid badge), and the no-background-checks notice on every profile.
- Block and report everywhere: profiles, messages, photos, feed videos and group chats.
- Private photos only between verified adults who have both said yes: checked before delivery, opened once, with screenshots blocked where the phone allows it.
- Your location is never shown: distances are rough on purpose.
- Alerts to everyone a banned scammer or fake profile messaged (above).
- Removing intimate images shared without consent within 48 hours of a complete request, with or without an account.
- A Safety center in the app, with these tips and where to get help, always a tap away.
How we handle harassment reports
- Every harassment report is looked at by a person. Threats and harassment come straight after anything involving a minor in our queue.
- We look at what was reported, including the messages themselves (a reported message’s text stays with the report, even if its sender unsends it later), and at the account’s history.
- Then we dismiss the report, hide the account or ban it. Blocking is immediate: someone you block can’t see you or message you again.
- If someone may be in danger, we keep a copy of the account’s information for the authorities and share it as the law allows or requires.
Changes
When what we do changes, we update this policy and the date at the top.
