Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-10-01
Washington’s My Health My Data Act, and similar laws such as Nevada’s, treat some information as “consumer health data”, even when it has nothing to do with health. This policy says which of MakeItLit!’s data might count, why we collect it, who sees it, and what you can do about it. [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] is responsible for it. Questions and requests: privacy@makeitlit.app.
What we collect that may count, and why
- Biometric data from selfie verification, only if you choose to verify and agree first: Amazon Web Services compares the face in your live selfies with your main photo. Why: to show the Solid badge and stop fake profiles. The selfies are deleted as soon as the check is done, and the measurements aren’t kept (our Biometric Data Policy has the details).
- Your profile photos and videos, because a face can be measured from them. We don’t measure them, except to check that your main photo shows a face once you’ve agreed to verification. Why: to show your profile to other members.
- Your answers about drinking and smoking, if you give them. Why: they’re shown on your profile, because you chose to put them there.
- Your private answers about sex and intimacy (the bedroom questions), if you give them. Why: to work out a general fit level with a mutual, on plans that include it. Nobody else ever sees them.
We don’t collect precise location (only about 1 km, which nobody else ever sees), and we don’t ask about health conditions, treatment, medication or reproductive health.
Where it comes from
From you: your selfies, photos, videos and answers. And from Amazon Web Services: the result of the face check (pass or fail), which only we see.
Who it’s shared with
- Our service provider, Amazon Web Services, which stores our data and does the face check for us, under contract.
- Other members: your photos, videos and the profile answers you choose to show. Never your private answers, and nothing from verification beyond the Solid badge.
We have no affiliates we share it with. We don’t sell consumer health data, and we never use it for advertising.
Your rights
- Know and see: ask whether we hold your consumer health data and get a copy (Edit profile, then Download my data, or write to us), with a list of everyone we’ve shared it with and how to reach them.
- Take back consent: we stop comparing your face, and the Solid badge comes off.
- Delete: delete your account in the app (Edit profile, then Delete account) or at makeitlit.app/delete-account, or ask us. We delete it from our systems, tell our service provider to delete it too, and email you to confirm it’s done.
To ask, write to privacy@makeitlit.app from the email address on your account, so we know it’s you. We answer within 45 days (if we need up to 45 more, we’ll tell you why within the first 45). It’s free, up to twice a year, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
If we say no
You can appeal: reply to our answer, or write to privacy@makeitlit.app with “Appeal” in the subject. Within 45 days we’ll tell you in writing what we did and why. If we turn down your appeal, you can complain to the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
