MakeItLit!

Lights Off

Read people’s words before you see them.

In Lights Off you come across people through their answers, one at a time: a question, what they wrote, and their first name, age and rough distance. No photos. Some answers are written only for Lights Off, so the same person can come round again with something new to say.

Keep someone for what they wrote

Like what you read? Keep them. When you both keep each other, the lights come on: you see each other’s photos, and the chat starts with the answer that did it. They see which of their answers you picked them for, and you see theirs.

Go through one question at a time

Read everyone’s answer to “How I show I care” or “What makes me want a second date”, side by side, or just let them come.

Same rules as the rest of MakeItLit!

Saw someone’s answer as a story? You can share yours too, from the app: just your words and the question, no photo and no name, on a look you pick (candlelight, the woods, a moonrise and more). People who turn on “Let people share my answers” can have theirs shared by others too, credited with their first name (and their rough area only if they choose); never a photo, a username or a link.

A story card on a night sky by candlelight. How I show I care: “I remember the small stuff you mentioned once, and I bring it up later.” A story card on a notebook page. What makes a place feel like home: “A lamp on, someone humming in the kitchen, and shoes I can kick off at the door.” A story card over the fall woods. A tiny thing that makes my week: “Finding the good parking spot and pretending it was skill.”
Three of the looks, with example answers we wrote ourselves (not members’ answers).
